Solar Lamp Project
This is an on going project between Engineers Without Boarder (Gothenberg University) and Zingira Community Craft in support to Kadete Village. Crafts women in kadete makes basket out of water hyacinth from morning to mid day then go to the beach to purchase fish which they sell in a night market. Their biggest challenge is lighting the market because the village is far from the main electric grid.

RECONNAISSANCE REPORT AND PROPOSAL FOR SOLAR LAMP PROJECT
This project was initiated through a collaborative effort between research masters students from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden and Zingira Community Crafts, Kenya where knowledge, skills and experinces were shared under a project called Beyondthe Basket.
During the research process two key phenomenon were identified; Hyacinth plant having a good absorption quality and about 870,000 school girls miss 4 days of school every month simply because they cannot afford sanitary protection during their menstrution.
The main goal to this development was not just to clean the lake but also to a sure young girls of affordable sanitary pad made out of this invasive weed.
